For over two decades, we’ve been exploring the serious side of silly - discovering how joy, curiosity, and shared surprise can open up conversation and bring communities together.
Based in Brixton and working across the UK, the Bureau of Silly Ideas creates street theatre, public art, and participatory projects rooted in place and people. Our work lives outside traditional venues, meeting audiences in the streets, on the pavement, and in the middle of daily life. From small moments of unexpected joy to large-scale spectacles, we use humour and invention to make public space feel more human, welcoming, and alive.
We collaborate with communities, artists, councils, festivals, and organisations to shape work that responds to its surroundings. Whether we’re creating joyful disruption, quiet encounters, or shared moments of wonder, our aim is always the same: to turn the mundane into something meaningful - and invite people to be part of it.
